Survivor 29 year-old Stephanie Cohen suffered a stroke. Survivor 59 year-old Michael DeStefano had a heart attack. Their stories of survival are powerful and may save your life or the life of somebody you love.

The American Heart Association is the nation’s oldest and largest voluntary organization dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke. Founded by six cardiologists in 1924, the organization now includes more than 22.5 million volunteers and supporters. They fund innovative research, fight for stronger public health policies, and provide critical tools and information to save and improve lives.

The nationwide organization includes 156 local offices and more than 3,000 employees. They moved their national headquarters from New York to Dallas in 1975 to be more centrally located. The American Stroke Association was created as a division in 1997 to bring together the organization’s stroke-related activities.

What They Do: To improve the lives of all Americans, they provide public health education in a variety of ways being the nation’s leader in CPR education training. They help people understand the importance of healthy lifestyle choices and provide science-based treatment guidelines to healthcare professionals to help them provide quality care to their patients. They educate lawmakers, policymakers and the public as we advocate for changes to protect and improve the health of our communities.

California Grocers Association Tribute to George Frahm, Execcutive Vice-President, Stater Bros.

George Frahm, Stater Bros. Markets, was inducted into the California Grocers Association Educational Foundation Hall of Achievement on Thursday, April 6, 2017, at the Sheraton Fairplex Hotel in Pomona, CA. The Foundation celebrated its 25th anniversary supporting the grocery industry.

The CGA Educational Foundation Hall of Achievement is a prestigious award program developed to honor those who have contributed substantially to the benefit and advancement of the California food industry.

The Hall of Achievement provides the food industry with the opportunity to recognize the achievements of those individuals who, through their foresight and dedication, have enhanced California’s food-distribution industry. They are people who have made a difference.

Mr. George A. Frahm serves as Executive Vice President of Administration and Distribution at Stater Bros. Holdings Inc., and served as its Executive Vice President of Retail Operations & Administration since December 2007. Mr. Frahm has been Executive Vice President of Administration and Retail Operations of Stater Bros. Markets, Inc. since December 2007. He served as a Group Senior Vice President of Administration and Retail operations of Stater Bros. Holdings Inc. from September 21, 2006 to 2007. Mr. Frahm served as a Group Senior Vice President of Administration of Stater Bros. Markets, Inc. a subsidiary of Stater Bros. Holdings Inc. since March 2006. He is a 33-year member of the Stater Bros. “Family” of Employees. He joined Stater Bros. in 1973 as a Courtesy Clerk and progressed through a range of retail store and district supervision positions and served as a Director of Labor Relations since 1995 and as a Vice President of Labor Relations since 1996.

Since 2001, he served as a Senior Vice President of Administration of Stater Bros. Markets, Inc. He serves as First Vice Chairman and Treasurer of California Grocers Association. He serves as a Director of California Grocers Association. Mr. Frahm has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from California State University, Los Angeles, and is a graduate of University of Southern California (USC) Food Industry Executive Program.
